Cheap DAC

Unread post by selby »

Hi Chaps

Been a while since I’ve posted but I’ve kept checking in occasionally.

I need to get a cheap DAC that does Toslink to AUX. Any recommendations?

This is simply for a TV/Games room so ideally looking for sub £100 and open to either used or new.
My Kit – I moved to home theatre setup sorry...Denon SR7011, Anthony Gallo A'Diva SE Fronts, SpeakerCraft Profile AIM LCR3 One Rears, BK Electronics XLS200-DF MK2 Sub, Epson Projection.

But I would love a cheeky little AP10, AP20 sort of amp for a bedroom setup...

Howdy stranger. Welcome back. Do you mean a DAC that accepts coax, or optical and outputs to RCA connectors, because that's pretty much every DAC there is? Or have I got it arse-backwards?

Something like a Topping D30 would probably suit you down to the ground, but I'll let some of the people here who know a bit more about 'em chime in.
Amps - NVA P50, AP30, A40, Stanislav Palo Tube Headphone Amp BB 85
Speakers - Monitor Audio Silver RX2
Cables - NVA LS1+LS3, SSC, Gotham S/PDIF, IBRA Optical
Digital - NAD C516BEE, SONY ST-SDB900 DAB TUNER, TEAC UD-H01 DAC
Analogue - Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB, Graham Slee Gram Amp 2 Phono
Cans - Grado SR80, ATH-M50X

Yeah optical in and RCA our which I believe is standard with a DAC isn’t it? I know nothing about DACs.

Will have an Xbox and Switch into a TV that then has optical out, into a DAC and then either into some JBL One 104 or into a small Denon Amp I’ve got and then some small speakers if I can find some that look ok.

With the DAC be good if I could also connect in an Echo Dot somehow.

Sorry I know this is far from Audiophile stuff...just a kids (and mine lol) games/movie chill area.

Topping D30, just purchased one on Amazon £80, would be hard to pressed to better this for the money.
