Dac inputs
My little dot dac has a optical, a usb, a rca, & bnc inputs- I require an additional optical- is it possible to fit another receiver or should I just get a cheap splitter cable, I’m willing to sacrifice the bnc slot- I assuming it’s a +ve, -ve & power feed from the circuit board

Re: Dac inputs
Cheers- watching a few on eBay- was hoping not to go down the ‘powered’ route if I went externally- might be unavoidable

Re: Dac inputs
Wouldn't you need something that inputs Toslink and outputs RCA coax or USB to feed a spare input on the DAC?
Trouble is, that extra device could result in unwanted jitter/signal interference that might not give a better end result.
But you don't know until you try.

Re: Dac inputs
I have a question thats not directly related to audio. From the router to computer is a 1.5m cat 5e cable. Would upgrading this cable speed up comms between router and laptop ?
I ask because it's a very slow broadband connection (a BT junction nearby needs re-wiring but it's underground and i'm guessing a proper fix is much more expensive than the quick bodge fixes they do ). so any little speed increase is a bonus. My max download speed is approx. 450 KBS.
Sometimes audio is played with sony ear buds from streaming sites.

NVA amps, speakers, interconnects & speaker cables produce the music.

Nothing you do inside your property will help you unfortunatelytweet_my_ribbon wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 3:10 pm I have a question thats not directly related to audio. From the router to computer is a 1.5m cat 5e cable. Would upgrading this cable speed up comms between router and laptop ?

as your internet connection speed is 450 KBS and Cat 5e cable speed is (up to) 1000Mbps going even higher will not change a thing

Re: Dac inputs
As I used to have similar problem so I do understand your frustration. To me the only thing that helped was offline storage.
Those days mobiles quite often have better connection that wired from BT. Maybe it is worth looking into? If you can get unlimited (like a Three) plan
I used my mobile as a internet modem on one of the show - it was handy that DAC accepted USB directly from Android phone
Just my 3 cents

Re: Dac inputs
Have a 3 mobile payg broadband dongle so have been toying with the idea of dropping BT broadband. Thing is it's a good deal at the moment with phone and BroadBand on the land line and the slow speed means it's easy to stay below the download limit.
