What I also see for 40 - 50 pounds are several Jitterbug-style USB filters like the Ifi Silencer and the Oehlbach Pure Clock.

These all appear to be passive filters that smooth out noise and correct jitter. Not regenerators (like Wyrd / Masterclock).
But I haven't had a good look at them yet.

I forgot their prices are quoted before VAT/sales taxes/p+p/fairy-dust etc. so £78.25 turned into £108.24, but that's still a decent price for all four leads in my book. Worst case scenario: they make no difference and I've got plenty of spare ethernet cables. Let's get this sorted now though. For a hundred quid I am going to tell you they sound better.
I have read some very good things about Blue Jeans cables most notably, on the Chord Facebook group, about their BNC cables out performing the Wave Storm which cost 1.4K. :angry-screaming: Had a look on their site and found that a pair only cost £54 inc shipping and duties. I have pressed the button and will see how they compare with my Geistnote Apogee which cost a little bit more.

Should be possible to run the initial setup of Volumio from a smartphone or tablet, anything on your home network (wired or WiFi) with an internet browser will do.

Have fun!
Many thanks. Finally up and running last weekend. Had to move to Spotify as could not find plugin for Amazon Music. All more straightforward than I expected. Huge relieve to finally stream to the main system. Its been a bit of a journey, this streaming thingy. Enjoying the music.

I did a bit of research, and Blue Jeans were not only highly praised, but I couldn't find a bad word about them anywhere. It might be smoke and mirrors, or it might not be, but the fact that they not only know exactly what they want but have Belden making it specifically for them, and that they not only "say" that they test each individual Cat6a cable that they make for you, but actually send a printout of the test with your cable. The cherry on top of that is the link they provide that explains how to read a report generated by the Fluke DTX-1800 they use.

I figured if their cables were as "transparent" as their working practices appear to be I probably wouldn't go far wrong. Good decision. 8-)

I'm now in "lockdown is boring," and "pretty much just because I can," territory. This arrived an hour or so ago.

Image

Although it (Waveshare 7inch HDMI LCD (H) 1024x600) does work as a capacitive touch screen my first try proved a bit "laggy" so I've removed the lead that provided that particular feature for the moment.

The Waveshare comes complete with HDMI lead, USB lead, standoffs, and even a cleaning cloth, and is part of a cunning plan

I'll look forward to your thoughts on these cables, my brother had been thinking about changing his BNC cables, a new amp and speaker cables have severely put a dint in his finances. Looked at those Wave Storm and considering he needs a pair, the favourite was Snake River Audio. Here's a review on a few cables for those with too much time on their hands.

The Blue Jeans cables arrived today and initial impressions are favourable. There is a noticable improvement over the Guestnote, particulary in the bass. I also detect a greater sense of depth, particulary with guitar solos. The connections are more substantial than the Guestnote and the cables are slightly thicker. The ferrite rings I had on the Guestnote do not fit. As they cost peanets I have ordered larger ones. Whether they will improve things I don't know. The thicker insulation could be all that is required regarding RF. I have picked up a bargain and am pleased.
