I would say that with a different tape deck in the equation and probably a different cartridge that any comparisons are flawed.

You are not clear about what you are asking.

I have made it perfectly clear that recordings on my Denon cassette deck from my Rega Planar 3 on TDK SA. Sounded better than recordings from the Linn Axis using the same tape. I cannot remember what tape deck was in the Axis system, it was thirty years ago.

I am not disputing that as a fact, what I am disputing is how you managed to determine the Rega was better than the Linn when there were different components in each chain.

I will save you the aggravation of having to answer by saying you can’t or rather you couldn’t.

My second hand LP12 and lingo 1 cost me €150 in 1999. At that price i never thought i had been ripped off . At the time i didn't know anything about record players but had seen the LP12's name a lot in the mags etc.

I don't think the LP12 is the best deck, there are better for much less money. But if somebody likes it and wants to buy one (after comparing to others) then that is up to them. We all like different equipment.

I even have a load of Naim equipment in varying states of modification. Some of it is still in bits from when i got tired of modifying it. I don't feel bitter about the prices i paid (it was all 2nd hand apart from the cdp) and it did introduce me to the world of diy audio. I should sell what i don't use but i'm a hoarder.

How can anyone be misssold? If we have gotten as far as looking/listening for something new, don't we take our own ears? Of course mistakes are made, but by whom? I for one have made many. Who do I blame, well me as I said before your money you're choice. I have found many things over the years that did a " better job" over what I owned, does that make it crap, I don't think so. Out of interest has anyone here owned used linn products that failed and got a bad response? The rest, as they say IS subjective

This seemed clear enough to me as to which you were saying was better. If you now want to make out that’s not what you meant then fine....

Yes, the Axis. Some preferred it to the LP12.
