Rega, 10 million in assets, loads of profit, and guess how much Roy took out compared to ivor? Peanuts...

Two very different companies.

Rega have executed their plans very well.

Linn struggled to understand exactly who they were going to sell to beyond their original customers...and when they did work it out they struggled to come up with the right product.

All far easier said than done...

But remember the potential tax advantage to having high R&D expenditure.

Yes, the Axis. Some preferred it to the LP12.

I recall someone I worked with thirty years ago had one of these and taped albums for me. They sounded good but the recordings I made from my Rega Planar 3 at home sounded better.

I am assuming you used the same tape deck to record and the same tapes and setup in order to make it the turntable's fault?

They made a turntable called the Basik which was below the Axis in the scheme of things. I went to a Linn demonstration at a hi-fi show once, they had their top LP12 baking off against the Basik. The Linn employee asked us to raise our hand with regard as to which turntable we thought best. Everyone preferred the LP12 but actually I didn't. I was too scared to lift my hand in the packed room though. It was them I realised I didn't actually have a clue as to what constitutes a good sound.
