DC blocker

Although I'm really happy with my BMU I really need to stop it's occasional buzzing.

Is there any/much theoretical advantage to getting the 2V version or will the 1.4V version be sufficient?

I think the 2V version will block DC up to a level of .........2 volts. The 1.4 up to 1.4 volts. I think they are the same price so you might as well get the 2V version.

Thanks Stu I just wondered if there were and SQ advantages to be had from the different layouts, but as Doc would have advised the best way to find out is to try it.

I also searched and found the BMU bandits thread and it seems that a higher value doesn't seem to cause any detrimental effect on the sound

I bought the BIG one rated at 3kVA as my amp can draw up to 20A on start up. However, I think that may be overkill. But it works really well.

For my system running NVA A40's from the BMU, the standard ATL DC Blocker is working just fine - despite my solar panels and heavy farming machinery nearby.

Thanks for the input particularly Fretless regarding the NVA kit that that you have attached to the BMU as it gave me a good idea that the DC blocker should be effective with my system.

I've ordered the 2V version and gone for the Schuko socket to give me a bit more flexibility than a UK socket. That means that I'll either have to get Schuko to UK adaptor or replace the moulded plug on the BMU mains cable.

I would replace the moulded plug on the BMU mains cable. Never trusted adaptors too much with high power audio, replacing plug is very simple and very hard to do wrong ;]

I have some Martin Kaiser Schuko plugs but I think there should be some better types out there, especially as far as fixing the wires inside the plug is concerned. Any ideas for a good quality non foo Schuko plug?

I did consider buying the ATL module and casing it up myself but once the case and sockets had been factored in there didn't seem to be much difference in cost to the ready built version. Unfortunately the picture isn't showing for me and I've already ordered from ATL.
