I have a Roger Davies Godolphine supply for my 301/401 which is currently at Nick's for repair. It certainly "added" to the pleasure of listening to the tables and without using flowery Hi-fi speak it was just better. The Goldophine is a quartz locked supply and is basically a mini version of Nicks. (That's roughly how Nick explained it to this luddite anyway)
So whilst mine was in the pile awaiting a coat of looking at Nick handed me his supply to take home and try. I have had a pretty busy week so have not had much chance to try it but give me a couple of weeks or so and I will give a report on it for all interested parties.

Re: Savvy System Blog
You're all explaining how it works like voodoo.
It basically provides a pure mains signal ensuring you have a pure 240v .
It seems the mains round here it good at doing it on it's own.
If it didn't a bmu is a quarter of the price and will provide the same job.

Re: Savvy System Blog
When I got my first 401 I looked high and low for a decent PSU. At the time only a guy called Martin Bastian made one which I later found out was simply a mains regenerator. So eventually I got a Purepower 1050 re-generator ( with on board battery back-up supply ) which serioulsy improved the 401 and of course every other power component. I still use it and it improves very component I use with it expecially power supplies/ power amps.
As mentioned above the Lencoheaven power controller is a mini version and looks like a good DIY cheap alternative. But again I suspect Nick's controller beats all of these and for me would be a good investment for my current Lenco PTP5.

I can’t help your lack of technical knowledge. A BMU does not do the same job.Daniel Quinn wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 10:36 am You're all explaining how it works like voodoo.

You wouldn't have made a particular statement if you had read the thread. I was trying to help you seem less stupid.

Re: Savvy System Blog
I notice that some power supplies designed for the Garrard allow the user to reduce the voltage. Some recommend dropping it to around 210v to reduce motor vibration.
Any views / experience with these, anyone?

Also picked up a baby Marantz from Gumtree. It's a 1973 model '2015'...having a run out with the Heresys. Sweet and open, especially for low volume, late night listening.

I made the statements I did in response to Savvy’s question. Certainly less stupid than you when it comes to the technical aspects of what a piece of gear does.Daniel Quinn wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 3:37 pm You wouldn't have made a particular statement if you had read the thread. Might be a bridge too far for you, but try using the time you spend on the internet to do something constructive, perhaps some research on how things work, instead of being your usual derogatory self. You never know, you might learn something.
