Cheap ain't cheerful.

See what the seller says about refund/return.
After my last experience I won't be expecting much co-operation there.

Might avoid AliExpress for a while .... :naughty:

Well, the Weiliang Audio Official Store are actually trying to be helpful.

First they asked me to open the unit up and look for loose components or obvious transit damage. Everything looked OK, just like the website photos.

So now they have offered to send another one.

The saga continues...... :epopc:

After a long, long time things have been happening on the AliExpress front. But the procedure is frustratingly slow.

Firstly they ask you to send a video showing the problem.
I refused to do this on the 10 pound DAC and they declared my complaint invalid.

So this time I did send a film and then was offered a new item as replacement. Agreed to that.

Weeks went by. Nothing arrived. Then a request to send back the damaged unit for a refund. That cost another 20 Euros in postage. In the meantime this specific DAC model had been withdrawn from sale on AliExpress. Wonder why????

Then there is another period where the manufacturer is supposed to confirm receipt of the return, this didn't happen and then there is a time-out where they eventually say that your money is being refunded. That deadline has passed. There is a message that my payment will be returned - but as yet nothing has turned up in the PayPal account.

Patience is a virtue.

Experiences with AliExpress part 59:

The refund did come through at the end of August. So I got my money back. Nice.

Still pondering a cheap & cheerful DAC for my bedroom setup and now looking hard, again, at the Topping D30. this week in the sale at Ali with 10% off and free shipping. Comes out at about 90 pounds.

I know a couple of folks here have one and are happy with them.
Might take the plunge.

Those Topping DACs are considered as Giant Slayers on Head Fi. I have never listened to one, but everything I've read has been hugely positive. Although not sure if it was that model or a higher one? I don't know anything about their range at all.

Topping is getting a really good reputation, and you can't go wrong with SMSL either. I've had several of their offerings and I'm still using the Q5 for computer sound duties and the M8 in my second system. I've also got an SMSL Sanskrit 6 on the other PC.
