The squeezebox needs a network attached storage drive to work. The other Stemcors were always complaining about the flashing lights (I suspect they had visions of the thing bursting into flames in the middle of the night). The NAS was replaced by a second hand Mac mini to give me the classic Mac and dac combo. I like it as much as squeezebox and domestic harmony has been restored.

 I bought your old Synology NAS off you to get me started in the wonderful world of NAS. It worked a treat but I ultimately needed more disc space so treated myself to a new, larger model. I've got the lights set to the lowest setting and a conveniently placed ornament obscures what lights there are.

I've still got your music stored by the way ;)

I stream music from my phone (Apple Music subscription) into my NVA based system.

I use an old Apple TV 3 and a Topping D30 DAC. Sounds excellent. I have Apple Music set to stream in best quality, the Topping does an excellent job, and the quality is better than my SACD player.

Apple TV 3 was £30 used (factory reset), Topping D30 was £80.
Into NVA P80 Pre amp, and A40 power amp. Using Tannoy monitors, sounds lovely.

Note: I use Apple TV 3 as it is the only version of Apple TV that has digital audio out. That and the DAC, and Apple Music (or Spotify) make streaming a breeze.
Modded Belles A150 MK2, P90SA, & NVA SSP cables, and LS5.
Leak Stereo 20 & First Audio Classic Copper V2
Modded Lenco GL75 with Saturn arm, heavy custom plinth. Nagaoka MP500.
Nottingham Audio Hyperspace + heavy kit, + Origin Live Conqueror + Koetsu Black
Tom Evans Micro Grove MK2 MC phono
Bluesound Node2i (x2) both with latest power upgrades.
Topping D90MQA and Topping D90SE
Audiolab 6000 CDT transport.
All NVA cables

My Apple TV 3 plays into a beresford dac to P50 is a similar set up to you and I agree the sound is amazing for the cost.
I AirPlay to it and it’s hmdi to the tv also gives a display to read- I am considering a small monitor (7”) to display instead

You don’t have to have a TV connected, so I don’t bother. Run out of space to plug new things in :)
