Take the top off, stick them inside the top cover.
That will shut it up
Yes, that'll do it. I'm also thinking maybe car mat - glue it inside to cover, like you say. Hmm.

Brilliant. Thanks!

It doesn't vibrate exactly (as in make a buzzing noise). If I touch the CD housing with the volume up I can feel the chassis is picking up the sound waves. Nothing else does - not even the shelf on which it rests - I can't relocate it easily.

My Marantz cd5005 (which I use for headphone listening) sits opposite the speakers and it has the same thing. All my other kit has no moving parts.

It if were a turntable I'd be getting feedback. See what I mean?

Then one of:
extra mass on top of the player for damping
or decoupling if the vibration is coming from underneath.
or put the player further away from the speakers.

Edit: From the Cambridge site's own blurb on the CXC:
Electronics (and therefore sound quality) are particularly susceptible to vibration; that’s why we’ve used a low resonance, acoustically-dampened metal chassis to eliminate as much vibration as possible; ensuring that the highest sound quality is extracted from your music.

and this from the CXC tech specs PDF:
acoustically damped metal chassis, giving enhanced resonance control

I don't think they got that chassis quite right. It is corporate blurb.

The extra mass option is my only one I think, maybe heavy rubber stuck under the cover. They should have made it a half-width unit, like a Cyrus. But it had to fit in with the rest of the CX range. I can't complain - mega happy with my stuff apart from that.

I'm peaking right now at 87dB. I don't have acoustic damping by the feel of it. Counterparts by Rush playing. yeaahhhh!

I've had a bit of a play with my CXC. The chassis is solid and relatively heavy compared to other CD players. Don't feel any unusual vibration coming from the drive when it is running.

Can only assume that you like your Rush played LOUD (the way it should be).

 Yep!

The drive itself runs quietly and with no vibration. It's the twin bass drums and Rickenbacker 4001. Think front row at Ahoy!

A solid marble plate on top of the CXC could look quite cool....
Or lead - for that 'heavy metal' effect.
