Most headphones nowadays are easy-loads designed for portable use. The P7 certainly is. But a good headphone amp will always sound better (AP10H?).

I've been hearing good reports on the Oppo PM3 as well - especially the midrange.
I am very pleased with my Oppo PM3s. The midrange is their strongest point. They also score in terms of comfort. Had them on throughout an eight hour flight.

Note on Audioquest Nighthawk.

Don't know if I've mentioned this before but the first edition of this headphone - with the brown 'liquid wood' earpieces - has a dodgy cable.

Image

The Nighthawks come with 2 cables. A thin flexible one and a stiffer 'audiophile' lead. This second cable is a version of one of AQ's high-end speaker wires and is slightly too rigid to withstand the demands of headphone use where far more movement is involved.

Within 2 months of buying the Nighthawk I had to replace this lead twice due to connection breakage at the plug. My dealer made no problem of this (very helpful, as always) and contacted AQ for a solution. They supplied, under guarantee, the lead from the newer version of the headphone - the Nighthawk Carbon. This replacement, although rather short, has performed without problem ever since.

Just a warning to those who might be interested in buying this cheap or secondhand. The Nighthawk has a rich, detailed character and is a superb headphone for immersing yourself in the music. There are several companies (Atlas, for instance) who do offer high-end replacement cables.

just out of interest,

were those 990pro new or used ? if used were those new type or old

And as you mention in the past you didnt like Superlux
also now 990pro and you prefer V6s

So I think we can safely assume that our tastes
and preferences regarding HPs are vastly different,
nothing wrong with that but please do not take it personal
if I will disagree with you on future HPs posts ;]

I have a mate down the road that buys all my unwanted LP's & Hi-Fi stuff  Anyhow he's a big Headphone listener & claims that everything i dislike about the AKG models i owned are not present in their 'K141, Mk.2' Headphones.. being impulsive as i am i saw a minty pair on E-Bay yesterday for less than £50, so i bought them as well

I've got a pair of Sony MDR-7506 cans that I've used as studio monitors for years. I like them a lot.
