Re: Dacs
What, remove it or change for another colour ?Quarknosis wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 9:51 pm Yes it's small Stu but it looks much better than I would expect for the price. Not that it's going to be on view of I can help it.
I've been listening to it for a few days now and I like what I hear. It has more detail than my modified vintage CD player which I expected but there's a lot more spatial information coming off CDs which I haven't experienced before with any player or DAC. It seemed to take a while to come on song when first switched on over the first few days but tonight it seemed to get there much quicker. At the moment I think the Philips player has a more natural sound with acoustic instruments, probably because it sounds very relaxed, but the DAC is really good with electronic music.
I've got to do something about that horrible blue led though

Re: Dacs
Something simpler than that, cover it with Blutak or sparky's tape. I can see the blue light even with it placed right at the back of the middle shelf of the rack.karatestu wrote: ↑Fri May 04, 2018 6:49 amWhat, remove it or change for another colour ?Quarknosis wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 9:51 pm Yes it's small Stu but it looks much better than I would expect for the price. The links for the SPDIF converter and the linear PSU still work.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote: ↑Thu Apr 12, 2018 4:16 pm If you want to use a computer then - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-to-SPDIF ... 2749.l2649

The link for the DAC doesn't.
Does anyone have an updated link for the DAC, or for another ultra cheapo DAC that's worth buying?

Re: Dacs
There are loads of these offered on AliExpress for peanuts.
Just search for '24bit dac' and you are sure to spot them.
The highly recommended Topping D30 is still available (for now) and costs less than 100 pounds.
Can be upgraded with an LPSU
DO NOT get one of these,
They are crap.
