WTF?!

Unread post by George Hincapie »

The ND 555 is, of course, considered the star of the range. As is Naim’s way, every building block of the design was revisited with a view to improving performance, right down to the exact tightness of the bolts that hold the Faraday cage over the streaming module. (A Faraday cage protects the device from stray electrical fields.)

Surely all that is saying is 'this is manufactured by a robot' and the publicity team is making a unique selling point out of it. Unless, of course, there's a group of people with torque spanners putting them together.

Ah good old Naim. The only company who pretend that an end of production line QA test that shakes cables (to test for poor joints) is actually there to relieve stress in the wires because de-stressed cables sound better.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with what they have put. The exact tightness of a bolt is often important in HiFi. It can however be 'felt by the human

The tightness of bolts holding a Faraday cage will make zero impact on the sound. It's BS.

Hope you are on the mend DQ.
