Oppo PM-3 - any thoughts?

Been reading up on these 'affordable' planar magnetic headphones from Oppo and am thinking about getting hold of a pair. They have received much praise for their smoothly detailed sound, which might be similar in character to the Magnepan MMG magnetostatic speakers I had a few years back.



Anyone out there had any experience with these - or the Oppo PM-1 which uses the same driver (I believe)?

I bought them last month as I wanted something of quality for out and about. Think they are excellent and worth the money, partnered with the Dragonfly Red. Auditioned them at Richer Sounds before buying. They said the Dragonfly Red is not comparable with portable devices, which is another story and dealers for you.

I think I heard almost all available planars on the market and from Oppo and in their price PM3 are the only one worth considering - but for me Hifiman HE400i currently represent better value and tuning wise are more to my taste - As I do not particularly like closed back HPs

If those are for On the go then fine - but for home use I would look for something open.

Oppos are way more better looking though ;]

I use open Grados at home with the Chord Mojo. Prefer open headphones but they are not suitable for out and about.
