The world's just not full of Samaritans like that. If it keeps going then all power to him.

Though I'd prefer to see an enthusiast only show.
I would do it, it is also known as sponsorship.

In fact I have done it http://www.adventuresinhifiaudio.com/05 ... ion-three/

Fancy a bake-off event...

Each hifi forum puts together a system for a (sensible) set amount, say £1,500.

Who can create the best sound?

TAS would bring a £70 TESCO'S mini-system fitted with 11 SR Blue fuses...

That was a great event.

What we need is some eccentric philanthropic owner of a country pile to host a similar event on an annual basis. To avoid having to pay a hotel to host it.

What would AT fetch? Nobody really knows what their diy efforts cost, i could hazard a guess at the cost of some of my bits and pieces cost but thats all.
I built all my Tts, have a phono stage that I built using nuvistors, built the speakers and the passive pre is one of mine, the pass f5 clone came my way as part payment for something so I have no idea how much the build for it cost.
Between at members we could put together an awesome system, and tell everyone it cost 23p......
And put a fence round it so nobody got a rather large shock......
