I'll be doing something similar with a lenco l70 that I picked up for not much, except that the l70 will be completely stripped in the same manner as one of my gl75 conversions.

So a trim ring and platter where the 99 is, either the at1100 or the mayware as the main arm with the at150 in it and an acos lustre gst1 as the rear arm with the eroica in it.
The plinth will curve around following the platter and trim at the front instead of being flat following the 99 pan, and form the 2 wings in a similar manner to the 99.

When i get around to it anyway

Beautiful tt and tonearms! :-)
It's a bummer that the G99 is quite rare these days...

Very happy with my upgraded L75, though. Thanks to many useful tips at the Lenco Heaven Forum! :-)

MAGIC !! now I can run my fav Ortofon SPU Gold, and doesn't it look a treat thanks to valvesRus and his lathe. BUT the music coming from the combo - best I have ever heard from a turntable, is just sooo tight on timing it is just soooo musical, old records being dug out, you know the old cliches.

I reckoned that arm was good as soon as I put a half decent cart in it
I think the 99 is a genuine rival to a 401. they are both excellent at what they do with different strengths and weaknesses but i personally prefer them to the 401, Much simpler, no fuss, just solid engineering. Its a shame they are thin on the ground compared to the 401.
That neat arm is the same, beautifully engineered, no frills.

Congratulations Richard,
That is a superb combination! :-) and it looks gorgeous, too!
I whole-heartedly agree with your comparison to the 401...
Does this one also have an improved bearing?

To my ears, the Lenco idler wheels in a decent plinth, with improved bearing and with a well-chosen arm, have this unique "boogie factor" which make them special and me dance!
