Speaker 'Noise'

George, you have been given good, logical, troubleshooting advice. If you follow that advice you will be able to isolate the cause of this noise.

Last time I heard anything like it the cause was a failing signal processor, temporarily cured by replacing an input capacitor, but that won't be the cause for you as you don't use signal processing. I mention this purely because others, who should have known better identified the cause as the speaker. It couldn't possibly have been the speaker because it moved to whichever speaker was on the subject output from the processor.

The steps followed to find the fault were the same as you have been given and the fault finding took about 10 minutes, once we had access to the relevant connectors. Give it a go and let us know what you find so that everyone else can benefit.

It turned out to be an intermittent amp PCB fault - all OK now - I think.
