Sony X555ES CDP problems

Unread post by Jonty2547 »

Since i imported in from Germany it's worked perfectly, but now randomly skips and generally decides to be a pain in the arse for no reason whatsoever.
Whilst it's reasonably frustrating i'm not quite yet at the point at binning the thing (unlike the daft Scottish bugger that did, although i'll not rule it out).
Is it a case of lens cleaning? I did smoke like a chimney at my old house (but now don't) so that may have contributed to its behaviour?
Is there an easy fix?
My Marantz CD6004 works flawlessly albeit without the same sound quality.

Headphone system Bushmaster II, Capella amp, Pi 3B+ with Hifiberry Digi+ Pro & Nighthawk cans.

Oh don't....

The sight of that wee lassie nodding like a good yin and then the closing statement to ''rock on'' just crack me up.
Frank...made me do it.

Um, yeah. Rock on it didn't.
Still skips on even a unplayed CD. Time for the bin.
That said, it was worth the trouble just for a peek inside it. I really bet they don't make them like this anymore.
Oh well, lesson learnt.

I thought you said you didn't want to be as stupid as Jammy. Put it up on ebay for spares and repairs, there are many people who can repair it, even me if I had time. I have a 777 waiting for me to have the time.

I really don't have the time to be faffing around selling broken tat on Ebay, but if theres some way to fix the thing then i'll have a go.
i'm assuming parts are unobtanium? If so i'll chuck it in a cupboard for now and a get a CXC to tide me over.
