Cloud Storage
I am in the process of ripping my CD collection to Flac. I am backing them up on an external device but am considering cloud storage for additional security. I am seeking thoughts about this. What are the best devices? I am looking for something at least 2TH.

Re: Cloud Storage
Would be cheaper in the long run to buy another external hard drive and have it stored at another location. You could just move the CD'S off site and rip again if the house burns down.

Re: Cloud Storage
It depends on whether you want general purpose storage or a backup service. A backup service for up to 2tb might be £30 a year. But all you can do is restore from that and you should really test that the restore works - otherwise the money is wasted.
General purpose storage (e.g. Google Drive, OneDrive, Drop Box) will be much more than that (e.g. Google drive $9.99 per month for 1tb)

Re: Cloud Storage
Do you actually require this second backup to be off-site or would a personal "cloud" server at home be a workable solution? Maybe something with hot-pluggable drives that will let you perform a backup and then remove the drive(s) and store them off-site until the next backup?

Re: Cloud Storage
I use and recommend those but can be had cheaper direct recertified drives which are mint condition and fully tested...CN211276 wrote:I was thinking of a personal cloud drive. Something on the lines of this:-

Buy two and they can be configured easily to replicate the data - belt and braces
