Brilliant fault finding by elimination but I still can't see what the fault actually was in the end.

either can I......
but faults can be fun...
I've convinced shona of numerous faulty goods of mine that could only be fixed by updating to a new model.
;)
But her faulty goods can usually always be repaired....or replaced with a cheaper model.... :guiness;

I think a broken cable (not nva) probably too much wiggling or bad joint in the first place. It didn't howl so it would be a break on the positive connection.

I have had a couple of items recently that have been returned with no fault, and one that seemed to have no fault but over time showed itself. It is cost and bother for you and irritation and time for me. I even had an amp back from Poland :shock: cost the poor sod nearly £100 in two way transit.

Moral of the tale YOU MUST DO YOUR OWN TESTS AND DON'T GUESS OR PRESUME WHICH ITEM IF FAULTY Also establish if it is an intermittent fault to do with only noticed when item is just on and cold or starts when used for while and warmed up. Intermittent faults are the biggest PITA.

I suppose I should put this as a sticky, what do you think.
