Can any of you play an acoustic double bass - I think they are bootifull things, and I much prefer the tone even mic'd up.

There's also a sunburst p bass modded to match the jazzer which was added later.
Trace Elliot GP12 and an Ampeg stack? You're going to be a bit louder than me. :lol:

I've got one of these too.

That looks to be a mighty tasty piece of work, Slinger. You have put a lot of loving care and attention in to this and it shows. The new Gotoh bridge is a seriously solid-looking thing and I expect the new pickups should do the job nicely.

Was at a pub gig a while ago and the bass player had a tiny little thing that looked like a standard guitar, turned out to be on of those Jaguar short-scales. They are really easy to play, especially in a gig situation , the small neck means you can do really fast runs and the sound is surprisingly 'fat' for something so diminutive.

But, hey - yours looks gorgeous. Good Bass guitars are sculptures, real works of art (yours too, Brit!). Cheers. :guiness;
Never apologise for being too busy because you were listening to music through NVA kit. Had it been something inessential like breathing or eating then fair enough. :lol:
I must admit I love my little Jag, and the new pickups are a terrific step up.
Jags are silly money too, currently about £190.00 new. In fact, I probably paid almost as much for the "upgrades" than I did for the bass itself. :lol: They are the prefect springboard for a modding exercise though.

Yes, I have tried playing a contrabass, but they take some serious time and effort to get used to - and years of hard work if you want to do it well. I started off as a Cellist - and somewhere along the line picked up an old Gibson electric bass and stuck with that. I do have a small Steinberger electric Cello now, but a good acoustic Cello is an expensive acquisition and I do not play enough to justify getting one (another entry on the 'Things to do when time and money allow' list).

To join the Bass-photo fest here is a pic of my Cort B4FL. Bartolini Pickups and active/passive switch. It's got a Mahogany body which they don't make anymore.

They are indeed and its on my bucket list to learn it and play some proper rockabilly music on one.

Not an easy thing to sneak in the house though, lower WAF than any hifi :lol:

I've always loved the look of thunderbirds but the neck dive on the vintage Gibson's I played did my head in. I would however like to add a G3 or grabber to my armoury at some point. A very versatile instrument.

I started off on a 70's Gibson Ripper. Damn heavy, not fast, but a great rich & laid-back tone.

Both have a big place for me, but always love this with Danny Thompson...

They've addressed that a bit by moving the front strap button from the shoulder to the base of the neck. Although the image I used doesn't show it that way mine is one of the later versions that is set up like that.
