Grado Bass Quality.
I've listened to a good number of Grado Headphones over the years.
Their bass quality have always been clean and very tight. This sound resembles a good sealed enclosure loudspeaker.
I've never come across a Grado Headphone that has veiled treble and sluggish bass!
How does Grado do it, I can never understand!!
But I can understand the Grado sound aren't for everyone!

Re: Grado Bass Quality.
John Grado designs all of the headphones "by ear" and doesn't use measurements to guide his work. He's been designing these things so long - he builds prototypes, listens, adjusts the design, listens again, until he's satisfied with the sound. That's the "secret" of the Grado sound, so in that sense it's more of an artisan approach to building and designing high-end audio gear.
Same as NVA.

Re: Grado Bass Quality.
Even the bass from the budget SR60i is nice and firm.
@ Richard: If you fancy listening to Grado's again. You are welcome to borrow my SR80's. But please bare in mind, they have the yello pads fitted though.

Re: Grado Bass Quality.
I sold my 80's before the move when I was selling as much as I could so I didn't have to move it. I will get Grados again, I am just waiting for a real bargain. I am in a headphone collecting mood at the moment. I have to build 2 Jammy Specials one for a customer and one for me (it is easier to make two side by side), scheduled for middle to end of next week. I have a couple of system to finish and odd and sods to build before then.
Re: Grado Bass Quality.
Good to hear your building a couple more AP10hJS headphone amps Doc - They really are a bit special.
