You've read my thread? Certainly made a difference to the Rega Apollo-R, and as I said, in a very NVA way.... more of the same.
Primare CD22. Primare DAB/FM radio. SSP to NVA AP70 and AP10H(JS) with Denon AH-D7100's. LS5 to Cube2's.

Wouldn't want to be without my MF M1DAC, it transforms a good CD player into something great; also it really digs out the detail and dynamics from a Sonos and hi-res audio via USB.

You'll just have to try one and see.

If the bloody CD player manufacturers did it right in the first place and without the 'upgrade ladder,' we wouldn't have to add yet another box to the setup.

I maintain that modern cheap DAC chips do it all internally, just needing a decent clean supply to work as well as anything else (the infamous Philips 1541 chip's 'working part' was a little square with width the same as ONE of the pins, the rest just empty space taken up by the pins).

Good as the Rega Apollo R is, it could quite easily be as 'good' as the DAC methinks. The DAC 'goes wrong' in all the beat ways, the music always coming first in a communicative way.

I'm so far out from modern CD players now, so would be in a right mess if my old Micro Seiki finally went tits-up. I've had great results from certain cheap Denon machines and have a long standing suspicion about ANYTHING Marantz I'm afraid (I don't share good vibes on 'KI' whatever he thinks he is), as a lot of their 'stuff' seems to have been artificially 'doctored.'
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Nothing I'd say it your happy with the sound of your CD player and have no need of other sources.

If however you wanted to add a basic streamer, or a computer to your set up, or if you just want to get better audio from your tv then you'd benefit from one.

I have the Rega DAC and it makes computer audio almost decent. I run my squeezebox, Marantz CDP and TV into. Mind you, I also have a cheap sabre USB DAC which is one of the most natural sounding components I've ever heard for beer money.

No, probably not.

But have a listen, you still won't need one, but you might want one.
