I did try a Transport / Dac combo a while back in the shape of......

Audio Note Zero CD Transport / Perpetual Technologies P1A - P3A DAC / Modright supplies.......
Not cheap, and apparently the blurb said it was the dogs bollox all singing dancing and the bestest.

It was shit.......Or should I say not as good as my Copland CD player.

There is a right good DAC thread going on over at HS forum........
Informative and debunks the myths. (Jammy)

Thanks for the information, but I am not a member there so I can't jump in and shoot down some of those armchair experts, or the ill informed. Whenever I have joined on occasions just to say my piece I have been accused of shilling and having an alternative agenda.
So unless it is a thread on TAS or AoS it is of no use to me personally.
The fact is that the earth is round when seen from space. But it is relatively flat when seen from standing on it. So one's opinion is in general based on one's viewpoint. And then there are free thinkers like me who spend their time doing their own research and submitting the results for scrutiny to anyone who is willing to give it a try. The V6-100 super firmware is an excellent example of that. No trained ears or burn in required. And instant A-B comparisons are just a chip swap away. Now, when the armchair experts on HS can match and perform that kind of level of evidence to back up their small talk, then we'll be getting somewhere. (Stan Beresford).

.........................................................................................................................................

Stan we are also free thinkers. (I think).
And as such thought it best to post here rather than TAS ...(Bastion Beresford).

He knows he cannot pull off his marketing tricks here without being poked, that is what it is all about. When Stan has people slimying around about how wonderful his products are then he is a subjectivist, when someone doesn't like them or prefers something else he goes on his objective hobbyhorse with things like firmwear - it is all marketing and looking for angles to suit the occasion. AND what he is famous for is when he cannot get people to talk about his products he creates multiple accounts at forums and talks to himself about them - headfi caught him out doing this.

I don't understand it personally, he has good product sold direct so good prices, he doesn't need to play these stupid games.

Anyway he is still chuntering about the AP10 JS, as he was just getting into his marketing stride at TAS about his new headphone amp, with all his shill kids in place for the campaign, and you went and cocked it up for him, so he is cross with you Jammy

I used to sell quite a few TC-7510 DACs to Naim CDP owners after a few of them discovered that my separate DAC made their £5K CDP sound so much better. I even had users opening threads about it on the Naim forum.
If it is supposed to be a myth that a separate combo is no better, then whoever came up with the idea that is a myth is obviously ill informed to the extreme. (Stan Beresford).

So a stand alone cd player cant perform as well if not better, than one with seperate dac...... :Bllocks:

Some DACS will, some DACS won't
Some dacs need a lot of tweakin and some dacs don't
Well, I know I've got the fever but I don't know why
Some DACS will and some DAC makers lie
