Whoops

Unread post by istari_knight »

I appear to have adopted another pair of speakers :shifty:

Technics SB-5010: 1979/1980 models, 10" bass drivers, cone tweeters, 93dB efficient... Should be fun to play with, could make perfect candidates for my next Doc mod project

Cool! 8-)

I once had a full Technics brochure from the late 70's and some of their stuff was fabulous. Dunno if it sounded any good but it looked gorgeous. :)
Sources: Macbook/Sony CDP-X303ES/TEAC UD-H01 dac & Sony PS-6570/Benz Micro ACE SL
Making it louder: Sonneteer Sedley/Sonneteer Campion

Picking them up tomorrow so we'll see...

Late 70's were as good as it got for the brand I think Richard, had the full 90** "studio" range for a bit - Not heard bass reproduced that well since !

You tell me this now !?

I'm a hopeless addict, not even set eyes on them yet and I'm chomping at the bit to rip all the gubbins out & get some steel in there.

Wow, nice catch, James.

I do have a soft spot for Technics speakers.
The higher-end ones look awesome, like your newbies James, but my 1st ever 'proper' speaker was a Technics SB301.
Ah --- the memories -- blimey, must have been 40 years ago -- :character-oldtimer:

OK, so I guess they weren't really very good, but at the time they seemed awesome.

I wouldn't mind me a pair of these in a 2nd system .... :romance-hearteyes:

I don't think those were too bad Jerry... Would probably sound quite good on the end of your Nad ! The price those Trio's went for wasn't bad Doc, thats the positive side of our nations mass delusion that Jap hifi isn't very good... Many, many bargains 8-)

It's getting better with amps, people are beginning to wise up but speakers ? Unless its NS-1000 forget it.
