Re: CD Transport ?
Just dug my mediaeval Cambridge Audio CD2 out for the first time in years. Analogue output gave up the ghost about 20 years ago but digital out still works - and how!
The sound is fuller and Livelier than from my Arcam CD62T, but the restrained accuracy of the latter also has its merits. Its a difficult call to make what is 'better'. But don't understimate the better players from the 80's.
I remember a story that Stan Curtis was casting parts of the chassis himself using molten lead and that nobody would help him due to the health risks.

Re: CD Transport ?
I had a Cambridge discmagic transport up until 5 years ago using an old NVA DACon. It worked very well.

Re: CD Transport ?
I had one of the philips CD850 bit stream (correct me if im wrong, from the 80s). What a great player, I never tried it as a transport but I did put it up against the modern players and it was suprisingly hard to beat. I dont think technology has moved on that much to be fair.
