Then again you cant make a Sow's Ear out of a Silk Purse.

How's about a compromise...!!!
A Sow's Purse, or a Silk Ear?

Well we're going to have to agree to disagree and if anyone does not agree to disagree I will be sending long rambling emails filled with ad-hominem and botty references.

Seriously though, it is one of those debates that can't be won or lost.
There are too many differing views and opinions ever to come to a consensus.
But it is an interesting debate for all that.

Is it in the bin because it sounds irritating or because you don't like the music?

Bobby Hatfield "whoooo"s during the call and response section towards the end are nicely distorted (deliberately) to give a sense of climax and desperation, the clue is in the lyrics, ie as Macca has said, when talking about Oasis, the recording is the way it is because of artistic decisions, rather than Hi-Fi considerations. Your system is clearly showing this decision making process. You, of course don't have to like their decisions

The Righteous Brothers record sounds aircraft hangar massive. The strings shimmer. I don't find it flat and airless.
OTOH it could be that I'm far too easily pleased and therfore unreliable
Or you may have the worlds best system that you made yourself. ;)
Audio Grail "Sable" Garrard 401 with Cumbrian Green Slate plinth / Audiomods 6 / Benz Micro Gullwing SLR, Phono 2, NVA INT400sa. (Oh and a Copland CDA823 CD Player, for when I fancy a bit of the devil's spawn!)

Nah! Macro has the world's best system. I couldn't hope to compete with that.

Macro (Muccus) is pure delusion and salesmanship. It seems he has to sell his system (concept wise) to all visitors.
