I had both the SR80 and SR325i. The 80's are still around but, for me, the 325i was way too bright-sounding. They are also quite heavy and not the most comfortable. Eventually I settled on AKG K601's - very comfortable with a good, detailed sound that doesn't make your ears bleed.
However I got a pair of Koss PortaPro's recently to go with my Fiio X3. They are ridiculously good for the price.

SR325i are rather difficult to drive, much harder then the SR80's. The AP10h is one of very few headphone amps that do them justice. If not being driven correctly then the results you got happen they go hard, rather than dull.

Hmm. Sounds like I should have got an NVA headphone amp. (Maybe my Christmas list for next year?)

Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:How bad are the foams, are parts of it missing. I had AP2's. You can do temp repair with insulating tape for holes or splits and then spreading a rubber based glue (finger is best) around the whole foam surround. I did this and got another two years out of the drivers, they were still working well when I gave them to someone.
They are pretty knackered. The foam is deteriorating at the slightest touch. I have the foams and a guy who is happy to do it for me.

I have to thank you for making these speakers known to me. I have recently put the K's into action and they are spellbinding. Listening to Aretha Franklin with a glass of scotch feeling very chuffed with my system. I still hanker for cubes and I WILL hear them one day but until then these speakers really are keepers. Once I have upgraded the tweeters I will be a very happy man. Until then I will just sit back and enjoy the lovely sounds emanating from my speakers.

Where did you hear the SR325i?
