Yep, that's what I'd do too... Might as well keep DC off the BMU as well.

Edit, didn't see the Doc had posted too....

Will semi omni speakers work near the ceiling angled downwards, say 18" from the ceiling?

Ha ha    It could be done oh yes :epopc:

I will mount my little semi omni cuboids near the ceiling and see what happens. Reason i ask is for my second system in my kitchen / diner. Cambridge audio CD5, ap20 and B&W speakers. Can you spot the weak link there ? Speakers have to go up high and cos i love semi omni thang i thought it was worth a shot.

Doc, I've looked at that LPSU you're recommending for the cheapo Chinese mini-DAC, and I've done just enough reading to be dangerous, so do you recommend that particular model because it has an R-core rather than a toroidal transformer or am I talking bollocks again?

I think it doesn't matter, the only thing that makes it better with LPSUnits is transformer - VA (bigger the better) capacitors (often bigger the better), rectifiers (often bigger the better). Big and simple is my motto

I could put one of those Chinese DACs with a BBPSU, but apart from it would be a hoot to see peoples faces when they see it, I would hate it to make so much difference to make me want to do it. It all seems to fit together at the moment and I don't want to make it my product in any way, just one of my finds like the PL71 was (part of my hi-fi Guru status qualifications  ).

Ah, right, thanks. I only asked because all the others in that price-bracket that I looked at seemed to be toroidal and you'd chosen about the only one that wasn't. I've just bought a new DAC with a 9v/1.3A 'mini-brick' power supply and I'm trying to find a decent (and inexpensive) linear PSU to replace it. The one we're discussing here is 9v/3.3A so I'm hoping that'll be OK.

As far I know the one I have is toroidal, perhaps I linked the wrong pic.

...or I clicked the wrong link.

[EDIT] Looks like it was a joint effort, Doc. You've actually got links to two different PSUs, one toroidal, and one R-type. I think Ithilstone published the link to the R-type first.
