I know they were designed by Joe, alongside the Royd Apex. I could be wrong (or bought the hype at the time) but weren't the Elas then "voiced" by Roy Gandy. I know they ended up with a different crossover to the Apex but I've never heard the latter, so I've no idea just how different the two actually sound.

Don't buy into the bullshit  if he changed anything it could only be for the worse. He is not a designer.

And nor should they Jammy, I am far from a politically correct person but that program was crass and an insult to all black people.

I love my Mk 1 Elas. Probably the best speaker I've ever owned, and cost me all of £165!

Had a friend round the other day, and told him they were 30ish years old. Then I took the grilles off and explained that the drivers were replacements for the originals that I'd lifted from a Mk 2 Escort at a breakers yard :D He bit

Cued up 'Crash Test Dummies' and pressed play. Just seeing his jaw drop was worth every penny of the purchase price and more. Priceless

I want to try the Doublets now, and some Albions if I can find them.

Did you manage to sell those amps in the end?

Amps? If you you mean the Audiolabs, then yes. £400 the pair, and good value at that if you ask me. Yours are better, but I think the Audiolabs are good too.

Good news for Royd users someone will repair drivers. I got this email from a customer.

"Audio Loudspeakers in Great Yarmouth. An Email to Paul Seago
confirmed "no problem". £35 per driver."
