I've got to pop over there soon to pick up the 2 arm plinth that he has nearly finished for me. I'll let you know when I'm going, in case you fancy a meet up...

Looks like there are quite a few of us fairly close together, I am in Hebden Bridge and am happy to visit or be visited although as Paul can confirm my listening room is small and can only accommodate two Max and myself, but always up for a get together. :-?

My stroke as given me the excuse to spend the past year pissing about with hifi. Unlike kara, I've not started from the beginning, my starting point as been everything the doc said is gospel so experiment with his ideas.

Not yet bothered with speakers as I fail to see how they could be better given the size of my listening room. Crossover less, damped and infinite baffle, what else is there to know.

So I turned my attention to amps. One thing I've done where the results are staggering is with my phono 1.
.
I took the transformer, the bridge rectifier and the caps out of the case of my phono 1. In a separate acrylic case I put a 160va transformer (it's 30va for a phono 1) 10000 capacitors and the bridge rectifier. Using mains cable I connected the power supply to the phono 1 case containing just the boards.

Fuck me is all I can say. The doc new a thing or two.

👍🏼
I did similar but didn’t go that high on the transformer Va. I assume u kept the rectifier standard output to the boards?
Now do the same with your amps- separate psu for input & output 😎🍻

I've already done that and much more. I've been wasting time for 12 months ;)

I just wanted to prompt those who had a phono 1 to try it.

The voltage to the board remains the same. It's 160va with 30v secondary.

Yep- I get what you have done now.

It never ends- I’m constantly tweaking my spare belt drive turntable as the Lenco blew it away. It’s fun they said- get a stereo they said!
