Re: Bi Polar Speakers.....Anyone.
Typical recent Wharfedale, just a load of nonsense, and not bipolar. They are semi omni. Bipolar means that the back of the drive unit is as open as the front as in open baffles.

Will let you know how i get on with them soon as i get them.....

Alas , Jammy , it would seem the bi-polar monicker does not have its origins in wharfedale . at least that is not how they are described in the manual . my guess is bi-polar is a lazy description for two stero speakers in one box . :D

Re: Bi Polar Speakers.....Anyone.
These little buggers might be to blame for the "bipolar" name.

Hello, new member here - attracted by the discussion of bipolar speakers.
I'm afraid none of you have the correct definition of bipolar speakers yet.
It's OK tho cos I joined to help!
This is right:
.... and not bipolar. They are semi omni.
This is wrong:
Bipolar means that the back of the drive unit is as open as the front as in open baffles.
What you described there is dipolar config. This is true in open baffled speakers like the ones in the old Gil Briggs books. It's true with some planar speakers like Quads for eg In this arrangement, the front output's out of phase from the rear.
Bipolars are different. They can be in a box. A closed one or a ported one.But they have some or all the drivers are doubled up on the front and the back of the loudspeaker -and most important they're wired in phase with each other
