If I use a 15 amp plug with no fuse is there a fuse in my amp (AP30) that will blow to protect itself? :(

Also does anyone know if a 15amp plug can be had that does not use round pins, I can't find one anywhere

Do you have a fuse stuck in any part of your anatomy to protect yourself.

I have spoken so many times about this, including the saga that nearly caused a court case with Marco recently that I really cannot be bothered to repeat it all again, use the archive.

Simply with the latest consumer units plug fuses are a waste of time. If we had the sense of the rest of the world and not gone to rings we would never have put a fuse in in the first place, which is why when we were sensible and had radial like the rest of the world we had a good plug which is the fuseless 15 amp BS546. Still used in old empire / commonwealth countries like India and S Africa.

For me fuses are the work of the devil and FF up you power feed, DC rails, signal feed, output feed and every place else people seem to want to stick them (I suppose just to convince you to spend silly money on special ones, just like the IEC lead bullshit). People don't understand what a fuse is, it could be me if I stood in the wrong place in a power station  .

Well pardon me for not using the archive :angry-banghead: We are not all perfect

If I change my plug on the NVA to a 15 amp one will this invalidate any warranty ?

My consumer unit is the very latest, within last 2 years so should be pretty safe there

And would there be an improvement by swapping to 15 amp plug

Thanks to anyone that can help :D

I don't think you understand, please use the archive both here and at the old forum. You cannot put a round pin plug into a square pin socket, they are different systems. The socket has to be changed as well as the plug.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BS_546 it is the big one we are talking about.

Or get a single 15 amp socket and use one of these:

I'm just wondering whether the improvement will be worthwhile, mind you it won't cost much to try

I'm trying to find a round pin plug and fuse and socket where the contact areas are made of copper and not brass, if anyone knows please shout.
