Someone is trying it on http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Speakers-GOOD ... 4e2&_uhb=1
But even at that silly price they are good value for what they do.

Thanks for keeping a look-out doc
I've decided to get the Woofer repaired by Wembley Speakers.
I'll be sending it in the new year.
Price quoted for repair is £49-£59 depending on how much work is needed .
I'm not sure if this is fair or not but, I'm optimistic about the final outcome, so I'm going ahead.
I'll report back soon.

Update!
My Woofer arrived at Wembley Speakers intact .Paul (one of the repairists) has taken a look at it, and has advised me that it can be repaired but, I would lose the rubber surround in the process, which would be replaced by a foam surround.Apparently the original rubber material is not available anymore .He reassured me that there would not be any detriment to the sound quality. It would be the "same or better" .
The cost is £55+vat.

You could pick up another pair for that money if you keep your eyes open and then have spares to sell or keep.
If they say it has the same compliance you should be OK. The only problem with foam is it rots over about a 10 year period.

Re: Goodmans Magnum K (part 1)
I didn't want to take the risk on another secondhand unit, so I took the plunge, and had my Woofer repaired= £86 in total, the repair meant that I had to have the rubber surround replaced by foam. They assured me that the compliance would be the same, and the life span would be 20-30 years due to the foam being impregnated with something ? (the chap didn't exactly know what it was ).
Before and after below.
I've installed the Woofer but have not yet tried them.
I haven't got any stands for them so, I'm thinking of making my own out of plywood.Basically they would be the same width/depth as the speaker and a foot tall to bring the tweeter up to ear height (I don't know if this is critical or not ).
The stand will be a box affair with the bottom open.If i like the speaker I may veneer the plywood with teak to make it aesthetically pleasing.

Re: Goodmans Magnum K (part 1)
Go for it and yes ear level is important as tweeter of that time are a bit down on level.
Re: Goodmans Magnum K (part 1)
Im sure the BBCs 'Blue Peter' circa 1968 had a go at making Woofers like this out of old Bog roll holders and string.........Sounded bloody good.
