Can't do it, they are Fff'd. You cannot get replacement bass drivers, so they are only worth the value of the tweeters.

That's a crying shame...You would think that there would be a pile of suitable (if not better - Royds originals must be a fair age now)
Bass drivers out there.... But i guess if you deviate from original, then the magic will be lost.......

Joe individually rebuilt (doped and balanced) each driver for each speaker, that is one of the prime reasons his speakers are so good. So there never was a stock of drive units apart from the raw drivers he used to strip and use the parts from. I saw his rig where he did it, it was a time consuming process. I do the same sort of things with the Cube / Cubix bass drivers.

Thank's for sharing that Doc - I never realised Joe put quite so much into his speakers, and i guess therein lie's the superior sound quality...
Good to see you are doing the same, there is indeed a lot to be learned from old master's......

FYI Jammy, this pair sold for £196 on 03/10/12, I was second highest bidder. Not sayin' that they ain't worth £400 odd, after all life is short and ye can't take it with ye. Just a bit peeved to be outbid then see 'em the very next week back on ebay at this price. Like the Doc says somebody's takin the piss.
Technic SL-P1200ASC>>SSP>>P50sa>>SSP>>A80>>LS6>>Royd Prior>>> and on the whole very pleased about it.
