I think this is going to be fun....???

Unread post by Sovereign »

I have made another one of my classic impulse purchases (don't knock it that is how I got into NVA) this time I have made my most outrageous purchase yet - http://www.hifiwigwam.com/showthread.ph ... r-P-17-OBs
Ali seems to think they are a good purchase and it seems this speaker design has a large following. However I purchased the speakers not knowing what I had  bought, only then did I read the rest of the ad and the subsequent links.
I am due to pick them up on the 29th in Ilford so I will see if I can get them set up on the same day with some help, and post my findings.

Thanks rd
I have spent three hours last night reading about them, there is a lot of info, and a lot of very bold claims that they are better sounding than some very well respected speakers.
It was Ali that got me looking in that direction.

Just showed them to the wife and her immediate comment was "I'm not surprised they are selling them, they are so ugly!"
Good thing I have a separate hifi room!

Your Hi-Fi obviously isn't in the lounge then Sov.......
Interesting looking speakers, I bet those 15 inch bass drivers produce some NICE bass. A mate of mine has some old Celestions with big bass drivers and the bass is lovely, deep and textured very "easy", don't like the rest of the sounds they make though.

Ha! few seconds late!
Audio Grail "Sable" Garrard 401 with Cumbrian Green Slate plinth / Audiomods 6 / Benz Micro Gullwing SLR, Phono 2, NVA INT400sa. (Oh and a Copland CDA823 CD Player, for when I fancy a bit of the devil's spawn!)

They do produce good bass. My OB's use a pair of the same driver per channel. They are being so lightly run in this kind of application that distortion is low. They give clear, clean and deep bass down to 45-40 or so.

I think you'll like them. I'm looking forward to reading how they compare to your old speakers.

The possible problem is my room is only 9ft wide! so by the time I position them away from the side walls a bit I'm hoping I will have room for my hifi between the two speakers :D
