JPW P1 Speakers.

Unread post by southall-1998 »

Collected JPW P1 Speakers today. Tried searching the net for more info and not much results. Looks like these speakers don't get much talk.

I like their basic and bulky looks, they remind me a little of the Snell Ks.

I don't have the time to try them today  But hopefully I'll be free tomorrow and give them a spin.

Are these speakers still a popular 2nd hand buy? Are they easy to drive?

Cheers,

I had a pair they are good and musical especially for the price they go for. BUT the bass driver surrounds being foam rot and no one does replacements as far as I know.

I'm aware the bass units are still being made!

I am aware they are bloody expensive from pure sound for what they are, I was talking about replacement foams.

Spent a few hours listening to the JPW P1 Speakers. They sound very good, not much words to describe them but they are fun and musical.

Guy at Puresound can make some changes to the JPW P1. He puts damping sheet which reduces panel resonance & replaces the 4.7uF feed capacitor to the tweeter with a polypropylene type etc.

Might think about having these little mods done to my P1s.

Does the P1 share the same tweeter used in some Royds?

Decided to keep the P1. They are very good speakers.

Hope the baby NVA AP10P will handle the P1 fine when I buy it. they are 89dB, so not very efficient. I listen too any type of music, be it bass heavy to jazz and classical.

And yes, as Richard said, sometimes check underneath for hotness.
