Re: Digital Upscaling
Had another amp fail this morning on a Metrum, same system has now taken out a couple and only on the right channel, there is something wrong about what they are doing with that DAC. Lurcher looked into it and cannot find it, but for me (and the customer) the coincidence is too big as the amps never failed on his Rega. So the Metrum goes back.

Re: Digital Upscaling
Interesting (and worrying) as I also use a Metrum DAC. No problems after 9 months but I don't play at high volumes.

Re: Digital Upscaling
The fact that it is always the same channel seems to me like a production or programming fault just on a few of them, on filtered amps it will not cause a problem but for NVA it can be lethal to the amp.

Re: Digital Upscaling
When I checked one I could find nothing out of the ordinary other than the lack of reconstruction filter, but it didn't rule out that something odd was happening when fed by the owners data stream, maybe changing from 44.1 to 96 rate caused a burst of noise, not possible to tell here.
