I had one of the first run and it stayed and won't be moving. The immediate effect was like having an extension to the living room as the rear wall seemed to have been moved back 6 feet - incredible. Only downside was the hum which I had from the A80s seemed to move to the BMU but that has reduced over time and I have to listen for it now.

Yeah, but just think of it as an old marshall/fender/vox guitar amp turned up to 11.

I've just worked out that with an extension cable I can also hook the bedroom system (Pi/DAC, Sansui amp & Cube3) up to the BMU.

Could be fun. Have to rig up the cable now.

Don't often get the chance to listen to my main system during the day, but one afternoon this week (trying to escape from 33-degree heatwave) I did. The BMU was humming quite loudly - which is the first time I have heard it doing that.

Then the sun went behind a cloud and the humming stopped.
Sun came back - humming started again.

I have quite a large solar-panel array on the barn roof at the back of the house and this is obviously kicking some noise into the mains here, this is also audible via the old NVA A40 that I have in the lounge - that buzzes slightly through the speakers to let me know when the panels are starting-up.

I do not have solar panels but for some reason my BMU would usually hum first thing in the morning. This stopped when I connected it to a DC blocker.

Have you checked your mains reading? Having solar panels can add 10v or more to your mains when they are producing. If your mains is high to begin with, transformers could become unhappy with this.

Thanks for that tip Ali. Standard AC voltage in The Netherlands should be about 230V - I think I have a multimeter somewhere and I'll try to check it.
