P50 and MK2 A40s

I've had my P50 and A40s for just over a week now so I thought I would share my thoughts so far. These amps are a very noticable step up from the AP20 which itself was a very sweet sounding amp. The biggest difference to my ears is in the bass. It seems tighter and just that bit more believable. Bass seems to have more texture and goes deeper but never feels false or over accentuated.

Another big difference is how much bigger the soundstage is in width, height and depth. It is as though seperating the parts of the amplifier has allowed the music to seperate with it. Detail is simply stunning and again has the AP20 beaten. I was very happy with the AP20 but this upgrade has been money very well spent and these amps are also making me come to see just how good my Minstrels are - they really seem to be shining with the extra power and I've fallen even more in love with them.

I'm a very happy man indeed and enjoy music more now than I ever have. Can't be bad eh?

Nice.

I found the A40's kept getting better during the first couple of weeks as they settled in. Wonderfully revealing amps that handle every style of music I can throw at them.

You might consider upgrading to SSP. Later.It really is a noticeable step.

SSP will most likely be my next upgrade as I borrowed some when I had the AP20 and they were easily better than my SSC. I imagine with these amps the difference will be greater still. Only thing is that I need an 80cm from the tv to pre then 40cm to the monos and my partner looks at me like I'm a loon when I tell her how much the cables are ..

Yeah I am tempted by them but with my partner on maternity pay money is tight plus her Land Rover needs work... oh well!

Then you can be very happy with what you've got. SSC is great and I'm sure your rig with the Minstrels is making all the right noises!

Absolutely it sounds good enough that knowing I can't do any upgeades for a while doesn't bother me one bit. I've spent much more on hifi which has not got my feet tapping like what I have now.
