I've just got a new (to me) headphone system with a pair of ATH-M50s. Early days yet but am impressed by what I am hearing. I have used phones before but they were never like this.
One odd thing was that when I listened to "Deep Purple in Rock" the band wasn't in front of me but I was standing beside Gillan with drums behind, keyboards on right and guitars on left. I listened to some Black Sabbath and Cream but they were in front of me.
What's going on?

Re: New AP10
Sounds to me FF that you must have been moving around.......
You may have thought you were still even seated, but when the boogie started you were subconsciously dancing about like a mad dervish on acid.
A good Headphone rig can do that to ya.....
I have seen me start off listening to Zappa in the lounge downstairs and an hour later find myself upstairs 20mtrs away.
All this and my cable is only 5mtrs long - Go figure....Thats the power of music done right.

My wife bought a new La z boy couch so I was reclining- totally inert. So must have been all in my head.
The Lady of the House was sitting knitting at the opposite end of the new couch and she said she heard very little sound leakage. So; closed back phones were the correct choice as they will not interfere with CSI, Messiah etc.

Tis all in the phasing I think, but multi-track recordings are usually all over the shop, so little 3-D outside your head...
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...
