Cube 1

Unread post by Keithh »

Just some preliminary findings from first use of the Cube 1s that I got from walterwhite.

First I should explain that they have been bi-wire enabled, a mod by the Doc, before I had them. I have an order in for bi-wire LS5s but for now are using my LS1s with shorting plugs, not ideal but I couldn't wait.

I tried them on some old target stands I had positioned about 600mm from the back and side walls. Whilst the top end was crystal clear there was a lack of bass weight but little scope to move them futher back. My existing speakers are B&W 602s and to clear floor space I had mounted them on the walls and had, to certain extent, tamed the bass bloom by toe in and angling them down. I liked the result plenty of image but the bass still lacked control. So the next step was to mount the Cubes on the wall mounts. I positioned them in much the same way as the 602s, toe in and head down....it worked! Now the bass lines are deep and clear.

Can't wait to try the LS5........
