Headphone Listening

Unread post by southall-1998 »

I've put together a CD based headphone system. Consisting of an NVA AP10H, Naim CD5si & Grado SR80 headphones.

It actually sounds very good, but can sometimes be a bit aggressive sounding. Mind you, Grado & Naim have a similar ''hard hitting'' presentation to some degree!

But all the musicality, transparency and PRAT is all present.

What benefit will I notice by having a step attenuator on the AP10H?

It's nowhere near as aggressive in it's presentation.I did use a hicap with mine, which i prefered over the 5i i had before, i sold them all in the end as i couldn't tell the difference between them and a squeezebox touch. The good thing is i didn't lose any money on the Naim gear...   :P

Does the mahogany cups tame down the Grado's slightly over enthusiastic treble?
