Speaker cable

Unread post by setting son »

Hi Doc,

I've just put my AP10 back in my system but the LS1 I have is too short. I'll be looking at LS3 but is Van Damme Blue twin-axial 1.5mm2 ok to use in the meantime? I can't find full LCR specs for it but resistance is 12.5R/km.

Cheers,

Lee

Turn the amp on its side connect up the Van Damme and play piano music. If it is bad for the amp one or both of these things will happen 1/ a noise envelope (like a smudging) will appear around some piano notes. This is instability, so the cable has high reactance - switch off don't use 2/ the base plate of the amplifier will get hot, warm is OK hot is dodgy and if it reaches *ouch* then switch off immediately.

I think Van Damme is pro cable which are normally OK, but it is your responsibility.

Brilliant, thanks Doc.

Does LS1 and LS3 now come with Z plugs fitted or is it an option?

Cheers

Z plugs are now standard on all NVA speaker cables.
