Simple Gadgets you can build DIY only

Unread post by Wonfor14 »

OK Nerds get soldering irons at the ready.
I am offering just for fun to draw and layout not to complex analogue designs for you to build, that does mean no digital lies OK I said NO DIGITAL LIES.

So put you idea up and lets see what we can do, have fun (I will he he)

It will keep my mine busy as my mobility is getting to be crap now, I and hate cabbages and brussels ,

Very kind of you Colin :guiness;

How about a twist on the data sheet LM317 pre tracking reg like this with a gyrator / capacitance multiplier tacked on the front (not shown) using BC547 with 10K ohm resistor and 3.3uf film cap ? Oh and the option to set output voltage to 5V with two plain green LED's in series instead of R4 or a zener or a fixed reference like the LM329. Oh and the diagram doesn't have a cap across R4 or an output cap.

Would need positive and negative versions.

Does that make sense Colin

It does but there is a few problems in the design, one being the VF of the LED ranges are from 1.4V - 1.8 in common use.
Second thought using a LM329 is wasted as the LM317 have a built ref voltage.
How about a shunt series reg psu instead, lower noise no voltage over shot, better ripple rejection ?

50Hz output and variable frequency and voltage range more info please.
Oh what waveform shape do you need SIN, SQUARE, TRIANGLE, STEPPED?

Go on then Colin, you twisted my arm

I have never used a shunt reg because 9f the wasted heat but being a Class A man Colin, it certainly doesn't seem to bother you

Colin your asking pertinent questions that I will have to research the answers 🤣

Anybody can help it would gratefully appreciated.

Voltage range would be for UK only , it's a motor powered by the mains so normally voltage range would be 230-250 v

The waveform it takes from mains voltage so I think its sine. The only one I know of uses a quartz crystal to produce a pure 50hz sine wave.

This may not be that simple 😂

Well I did do one many years ago for Frazer of Oxford Acoustics But the divider chip is no longer made will investigate.
