Slowly but surely we are getting there. I have a metal fabricator knocking up a 380mm x 380mm x 30mm steel frame with mitred sides for casting the panels. It will probably be sometime next week before it’s done. I would still like to make a rubber mould at some point but I’m in no rush. I have also ordered some weld mesh to set into each panel. I could do with a vibrating table but I will have to make do without for now. Crossover components are ordered too but I need to order the midrange drivers from the doc yet. Oh and I need to look into the best epoxy for bonding the panels.

Forget the vibrating table. Set up some big ass speakers on top of em and have a party. Should do quite a bit of vibrating

For anyone who might be interested in using granite rather than concrete, a short article from someone who did.

I read that article when Colin suggested using granite. I may still make a pair from granite after these concrete ones.

Any progress here ? :epopc:

Concrete or granite or marble. Going to be fecking heavy. I like the idea but how thick would the cabinet have to be to be strong enough to take an impact ?

These are very much still on the cards but fitting a new kitchen and other bits of diy have meant they are on the back burner. I will be using 25mm thick concrete. How robust they will be only time will tell. They will be reinforced with rebar.

I expect the concrete ones to be ludicrously heavy and a two man job to lift onto stands.

 Andy you sussed me out! You’ll absolutely have to pop round for a listen once I’ve built them. I should have one of Colin’s 50w SECA amps built soon too...
