Unread post by Hemmo1969 »

Hi,

Anyone used this type of wire for interconnect use before? Any good..... is there a down side to a full silver cable?

Woven cables like that are almost Litz, it creates high capacitance which in interconnects for music is a disaster. They are useful in tuning system faults, apart from that it is better to not have the problem then try to cure it.

A complete no no for NVA amps it will drive them unstable.

Yeah cheers Hemmo and Doc, I have loads of these solid silver plaited interconnects some in the system some not maybe I should try swapping them out with an alternative interconnect and see what happens.

The silver wire is fine, it is the woven structure that creates the problem. The amount of problem will vary across different products. Simple unfiltered circuits like NVA will be most effected, highly filtered ones the least.

Ok I might just try unweaving them in that case, and try putting them in some sort of covering material / tubing

When unwoven you have to separate the + ones from the - ones and keep them separate and not mixed up.
