No mods today but your comment did inspire me to unbolt one of the bass drivers & take a peek... Well bugger me sideways with a pointy stick, there is no wadding Either Jimmy Hughes has been at them before me or ?

Interesting crossover inductors too, they use EI cores of the style you'd normally see used for a power transformer - Not seen them in a crossover before

What are the cabinets made form and how thick are they.

Damn, I should have taken a photo - Will do next time I open them up.

The large LF portion is 3/4" chipboard & the top HF section is 1/2" chipboard, they are basically two separate cabinets glued together with one horizontal cross brace just below the bass driver. There is no wadding/BAF/bitumen or anything.

If marine ply I would say don't bother, if chipboard then steel plate will be a benefit. Even at 1.5 inches chipboard will breath (flex) this is its internal damping. Adding rigidity and weight to that will be a good thing.

Then that will be my first port of call The bass whilst good can get a little "fruity", I suspect this is due to the cabinets.

Need to try & find a local source this time as eBay is a rip off.

Fruity bass is normally a port doing it. The fact that there is no wadding means the guy who designed them used his ears, and said it doesn't need any. Just from not following convention means he has my respect, so there is a good chance these are under the radar gems.

Any steel stock holder scrap bin is the first place to look.

Very good point, they are front ported - Not actual tubes but small holes in the baffle. You may lose that respect once you see the number of crossover components

Yeah, according to the brochure the bass drivers are operating up to 4KHz & the tweeters down to 350Hz which is unusual in itself... They do sound like good "full range" speakers can do, driver integration is seamless.
