No tablet, just three laptops one for the wife, one for me, and my old one as spare / backup.

I have one of those BT thingermebobs they advertise on TV with students.

You'd have to use the laptop to control the playback and such. It works OK. Just a little less convenient that using a tablet.

Well I'm pretty much convinced that any difference I'm hearing between these two is down to having one connects up with SP and the other with SSP. I'm going to stop driving myself mad and spoiling my music.

In that case I want one, have you cased it or do I need to do that, and how is it powered.

No it's in a case. The 'proof of concept' version has a powered USB hub which has a memory stick and a wifi adapter. I'll put a page of instructions together.

A chance to go even more minimal. However, there's no network interface on the board. So you'd need a wireless dongle and probably some local storage (usb disk).
