Re: Speaker question
LS2 is a starter cable, you really should trade it up to LS1 that should make things a lot better.

Re: Speaker question
If you can run to switching the LS3 to the top/mid and getting LS5 for the bass drivers you would notice a big difference, I expect. If the treble still grates after that - then you can consider doping the tweeters. I did it recently to a pair of Monitor Audio units and it did tame the sharp edginess a bit.

Re: Speaker question
I fitted the LS1 cables and, although only had a few hours listening, I still find the mid and tweeter overpowering the bass, not much but I think still unbalanced to my ears.
To recap; I have removed wadding, lined with some plate and linked the 4 bass units in series and used A80 to drive them. The mids and tweeters go through the crossover and are drive by A30. I have replaced caps. in the crossover and internal wiring and doped bass and mid units.
I want to tame the upper range without spoiling the sound I am getting.
I am wondering if the fact that the impedance of mids and tweeters is 4 ohms and the bass units in series give 16 ohms would have any affect.
I was considering either adding resistors to tweeters or putting a resistor onto the lead feeding the crossover. I don't have enough knowledge to make an accurate prediction on the outcome , so any advice would be welcome

Re: Speaker question
If the mids and tweeters have a crossover , does that include resistors? if so increase the value to your taste . Wire wound resistors are cheap .

Re: Speaker question
I do not think the difference in impedance will be an issue , it is usually differing sensitivity that gives rise to the problems you describe . If the x-over as no resistors then putting one them in is not difficult , but are these not all original drivers ?
